Endemol Shine North America And Boomdog Combine Spanish-Language Business To Form Endemol Shine Boomdog

November 14, 2017 - Endemol Shine North America’s Spanish-language division Endemol Shine Latino is joining forces with Mexico City-based production company Boomdog to form Endemol Shine Boomdog.

The deal was announced today by Cris Abrego, CEO, Endemol Shine North America and Chairman, Endemol Shine Americas and Boomdog CEO, Alejandro Rincon.

The newly combined studio will focus on original production of both scripted and unscripted content for the U.S. Hispanic and Mexican TV markets. Boomdog CEO Alejandro Rincon will now serve as CEO of Endemol Shine Boomdog, reporting to Endemol Shine Latino President Laurens Drillich, who oversees all of Endemol Shine’s business operations in Latin America.

“We’ve enjoyed a great relationship and great success with the team at Boomdog over the last several years and quickly realized that joining forces could take both of our operations to the next level,” said Abrego. “Alejandro and the Boomdog team are unquestionably the leading independent producers in Mexico and we’re truly excited about what our joint teams will be able to accomplish together.”

“We are extremely pleased and proud to welcome Alejandro and the Boomdogs into our family at Endemol Shine,” says Drillich. “It makes all the sense in the world to combine our Mexican and U.S. Hispanic operations, since that border, contrary to what some think, hardly exists. And to do so with Boomdog, only makes it better!”

“This deal comes as a result of a 20-year career, where Carlos (Perna) and I have worked very hard to get Boomdog to where it is today. We are very excited with what now lies ahead of us, working hand-in-hand with our partners at Endemol Shine,” says Rincon. “We have two tremendous teams in both Miami and Mexico and we are poised to be the independent leader in both the U.S. Hispanic market and in Mexico. And I want to thank Cris Abrego and Laurens Drillich for trusting me and my team to make the creation of Endemol Shine Boomdog a reality.”

Boomdog and Endemol Shine Latino have been co-producing series in the region together for several years now, including co-producing hit scripted series “El Vato” for Universo, “Gran Hermano” for Telemundo, “MasterChef Mexico” for TV Azteca, as well as developing the highly anticipated upcoming drama series “Nicky Jam: El Ganador” for Telemundo.

And Boomdog, Endemol Shine Latino, Somos Productions and Pinolywood Studios recently announced they are teaming to produce the first-ever scripted drama series based on Latin boy band Menudo.

Boomdog is behind many of Mexico’s top unscripted and scripted series including the hit HBO talk show “Chumel con Chumel Torres,” “La Sopa,” “Mexico’s Next Top Model,” “El Incorrecto,” “Impractical Jokers Mexico,” “Fashion Police Mexico,” “Gran Hermano,” “Cambiame el Look” and many others.

Boomdog was originally founded by Alejandro Rincon and Carlos Perna in 1997 in Caracas, Venezuela and arrived in Mexico in 2007. It currently has over 100 employees and world-class production facilities and studios in Mexico City. Boomdog is the leading independent production house in Mexico and in recent years it has seen significant growth in the scripted business with series that connect with audiences and offer an exceptional degree of quality.

Endemol Shine Latino recently announced three upcoming series with Telemundo, including the first-ever Spanish-language version of “MasterChef” in the U.S. (“MasterChef Latino”), as well as scripted series “Nicky Jam: El Ganador” and unscripted digital series, “Love Clicks 24/7” for Telemundo.com. Endemol Shine Latino is also currently producing “Strictly Dancing” (“Mira Quién Baila”) and “Your Face Sounds Familiar” (“Tu Cara Me Suena”) for Univision.

Endemol Shine Latino has also announced it is producing “El Clan” with DNF Pictures, a scripted series based on Maria Raquenel Portillo’s forthcoming autobiography that tells the behind-the-scenes story of the biggest scandal in Latin music history. And Endemol Shine Latino and Major TV also have optioned the TV rights to Chris Perez’s To Selena With Love, the best-selling book that tells the late Latin music superstar’s love story through the eyes of her husband.
