Televisa and Endemol Shine Sign a New Agreement for Content Development Worldwide
January 22, 2019—Televisa and Endemol Shine strengthen their alliance with the signing of a new agreement that contemplates the development and joint production of programs, series and original formats from Endemol Shine Group. This new partnership, was announced today by Patricio Wills, President and Head of Studio of Televisa Studios and Laurens Drillich, President of Endemol Shine Latino, and will be focused on the Mexican market, the Hispanic market in the United States, and the rest of the world.
Endemol Shine recognizes Televisa’s experience and global leadership in the generation and diffusion of Spanish audiovisual content. In 2018, Televisa’ s network was the most watched in Mexico. Its productions permanently occupied 9 of the Top 10 best places, and its contents also were the most watched in the Latin TV of the United States.
Aware of this strength, the agreement establishes that the content development team of Televisa will work in coordination with Endemol Shine Boomdog, a new studio in Mexico City, to develop and co- produce original series.
As a result of this agreement, the first co-production will be “Hijos del Tigre” (2019), to then continue with the co-production of “Me caigo de risa” (“Anything Goes”), whose third season was aired by Televisa in Mexico ending on August 9th, recording an average audience of 1.8 million people per episode.
The alliance between Televisa and Endemol Shine dates back to 2002. Through this time, amongst the main formats of Endemol Shine that were adapted and distributed by Televisa are “Big Brother”, “Operación Triunfo”, “Factor Miedo” and “Los exitosos Pérez”.
The most recent format co-produced by Televisa and Endemol Shine Boomdog was the sixth season of “Mira Quién Baila”. This successful talent show, which was aired by Televisa and Univision, became Sunday’s most viewed program in Mexico and of Latin TV in the United States.
“Endemol Shine has a long and successful history with Televisa, and we are delighted to continue this relationship with this unprecedented agreement”, Drillich said. “Our Mexico City-based team at Endemol Shine Boomdog is already developing several promising new series with the team at Televisa and we look forward to successfully launching them together.”
“Televisa and Endemol have a relationship of 17 years. We appreciate the confidence that an international producer of the size of Endemol puts in Televisa to co-produce for the world market”, said Patricio Wills, President and Head of Studio of Televisa Studios.
