Televisa and Endemol Shine Boomdog to Bring "The Masked Singer" to Mexico
April 4, 2019 - Televisa Studios and Endemol Shine Boomdog announce their coproduction in the adaptation for Mexico of “The Masked Singer”, as part of its alliance for the development and joint production of shows, series and original formats focused on the Mexican market, the Hispanic market in the United States and the rest of the world.
Endemol Shine Boombdog and Televisa have licensed “The Masked Singer” from Mun Hwa Broadcasting Corp. (MBC) in South Korea. Both companies will produce and adapt this format for the Spanish speaking market.
In “The Masked Singer” a group of celebrities will hide their identity behind full body disguises and fascinating masks while singing in front of a fun panel of judges, that besides evaluating their performance, will analyze every detail to discover who is behind every mask. The judges will also decide which contestant should abandon the competition, not without first revealing their identity and provoking funny reactions and after realizing how close or completely mistaken they were to discover the celebrity behind the mask.
Endemol Shine Boomdog is parterning with Televisa, which has tremendous experience and leadership in generating, adapting and distributing Spanish-language content throughout the world. Its highest-rated television window in Mexico ensures the success of the Mexican version of "The Masked Singer."
"The Masked Singer", in its adaptation for Mexico, will be a cutting-edge format, which will be added to other successful formats developed and adapted by Televisa and Endemol Shine, such as "Big Brother", "Resbalón", "Mira Quién Baila", "Fear Factor" and "Me Caigo de Risa".
This format has been a success in the United States, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and China. In the United States, its first season launched in January 2019 and set an audience record in its genre and its premiere led all the television programs in that country.
Eduardo Clemesha, Vice President of Entertainment at Televisa, emphasized that: "the realization of this new project responds to the permanent commitment of Televisa to offer its audiences the best and most innovative contents.
