Sharon Hall Named President, Endemol Shine Studios
January 28, 2016 - Former Alcon Television Group President and Sony Pictures TV exec Sharon Hall has been named President, Endemol Shine Studios, it was announced today by Charlie Corwin and Cris Abrego, Co-CEOs of Endemol Shine North America and Co-Chairmen, Endemol Shine Americas.
Hall most recently served as President, Alcon Television Group, where she launched the studio’s TV division in 2012 and prior to that headed drama development at Sony Pictures TV, where she developed series such as “Masters of Sex,” “Breaking Bad,” “Justified” and “Damages.”
Endemol Shine Studios, the scripted division of Endemol Shine North America, is behind such series as AMC’s “Hell on Wheels,” DirecTV’s “Kingdom” and the upcoming Showtime series “I’m Dying Up Here.” Endemol Shine Studios currently has 19 series in development across 12 networks, including the U.S. adaptation of UK thriller “Utopia” at HBO.
Internationally Endemol Shine Group is currently enjoying tremendous success in the scripted genre and is behind many of the top hours globally and in the U.S., including “Black Mirror,” (Channel 4/Netflix) “Peaky Blinders,” (BBC2/Netflix) “Humans,” (Channel 4/AMC), “River,” (BBC1/Netflix) “Granchester,” (ITV/PBS) “Bron/The Bridge” (SVT1/DR1/FX) and “The Fall” (BBC2/Netflix).
Endemol Shine Group is also home to many of the world’s top scripted production companies including Kudos, House of Tomorrow, Artists Studio, Filmlance, Tiger Aspect, 50 Fathoms, Brown Eyed Boy and many others.
Jeremy Gold, who serves as Executive Vice President, Endemol Shine Studios and has overseen “Kingdom,” “Hell on Wheels” and “I’m Dying Up Here,” as well as the division’s development slate, will report to Hall.

Hall joined Alcon in 2012, launching the company’s television division and overseeing series including the HBO Emmy-nominated documentary “Sinatra: All or Nothing at All” and Syfy series “The Expanse.” Hall is also set to serve as Executive Producer for the upcoming series “ICE” for DirecTV, which is set to debut later this year.
Before joining Alcon, Hall had served as Executive Vice President and head of drama for Sony Pictures TV, overseeing the development of hit Showtime series “Masters of Sex,” as well as “Unforgettable” (CBS), “Necessary Roughness,” (USA) “Drop Dead Diva” (Lifetime) and “Franklin & Bash” (TNT). Hall first joined Sony in 2005, rising through the studio’s scripted ranks and helping develop some of the top hits of the last decade including “Breaking Bad,” “Damages” and “Justified.”
Prior to joining Sony Pictures TV, Hall was Vice President of Programming for MTM Television, where she was responsible for development and production of all syndicated and children’s TV production. During her tenure, MTM produced “The Pretender” at NBC, as well as “The Cape” in national first-run syndication.
Hall served as Vice President of Programming at BBDO Worldwide from 1990-1995, managing all client-supported programming for Pepsi, Apple, Chrysler and Campbell’s Soup. While at BBDO, Hall won a Peabody Award for the MTV/FOX special, “Rock The Vote.”
Hall also wrote and directed the award-winning AFI short film, "Designer Donuts, 5 AM” and directed multiple episodes of the AMC drama series "The Lot." She began her professional career in the Groundlings and then as a development executive at both MGM Television and Viacom.
Hall lives in Los Angeles with her husband, writer Todd Ellis Kessler, and their two sons.
