HGTV Taps Actor-Producer Anthony Anderson For Special Guest Appearance On 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

(Sept. 26, 2019) - HGTV adds more star power to its highly anticipated reboot of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition as actor and producer Anthony Anderson, an executive producer and star of ABC’s critically-acclaimed hit comedy series black-ish and executive producer of grown-ish and mixed-ish, joins the lineup of special guests. Anderson will come aboard to work with the series host, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, an award-winning actor and star of the ABC sitcom Modern Family. Together with volunteers, special guests and other experts, including the show’s regularly appearing designers Breegan Jane, Carrie Locklyn and Darren Keefe, they will help execute life-changing home transformations for families.

A familiar face on HGTV’s sister net Food Network, Anderson was host of Carnival Cravings and appeared on Chopped and Iron Chef America. He also hosts the popular ABC game show To Tell the Truth, now in its fourth season. Anderson has starred in more than 20 films and is multi-award nominated for Emmys, Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards, among others. He has also won 13 Image Awards over the course of his career.

“On Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, I will be part of making a real impact on a family’s future,” said Anderson. “The joy of working alongside people in the community to help a family get a fresh start in their new home is extraordinary.”

The HGTV spin on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is scheduled to air in early 2020. The network will continue to announce more guest stars throughout production of the series, which will showcase great stories, inspired volunteers and stunning home renovations for families who give back to their communities. The whole-home overhauls will include interior, exterior and landscaping—all completed in record time while the family is sent away.

“Anthony’s humor, tremendous talent, fun-loving personality and desire to help will make a lasting impact on these deserving families,” said Jane Latman, president, HGTV.
